Join award-winning poet and novelist William Walsh at the Cherokee County History Center on February 21st at 7:00pm and learn how he recreated the historical nuances of 1973 to create an accurate portrayal of life 50 years ago. He'll also discuss the ins and outs of successful writing.

About William Walsh

William Walsh is the director of the Reinhardt University B.F.A. and M.F.A. programs. In April 2022, after thirty-nine years in the making, his debut novel, Lakewood, was published by Touch Point Press. In January 2023, the poetry anthology, Why I Wrote This Poem was published by McFarland & Co. His most recent collection of poems, Fly Fishing In Times Square, was published by Červená Barva Press (Boston), after winning the 2019 Editors’ Prize. His novels The Boomerang Mattress and Haircuts for the Dead have been Finalists and Semi-Finalists in the William Faulkner Pirate Alley Prize. As well, his novel, The Pig Rider, was a Finalist in 2015.  The author of nine books, his work has appeared in AWP Chronicle, Cimarron Review, Five Points, Flannery O’Connor Review, The Georgia Review, James Dickey Review, The Kenyon Review, Literary Matters, Michigan Quarterly Review, North American Review, Poetry Daily, Poets & Writers, Rattle, Shenandoah, Slant, and Valparaiso Poetry Review.
