Camp Schedule

Monday - Archaeology with Kady Yeomans
Come learn about the archaeological history in Cherokee County with our education manager, Kady Yeomans! There will be a short lecture and presentation about archaeology followed by several activities including making our own clay pots, designing patterns for pots, and trying to reassemble a piece of broken pottery!

Tuesday - All About Minerals
Come learn about the minerals and mining history in Cherokee County! There will be a talk about the minerals, their properties, and the importance of them to the growth of our county. Campers will get to test the properties of minerals and play a matching game with them followed by creating their own mineral testing kits to take home.

Wednesday - The ABCs of Genealogy with Jennifer Dunn and Solving History's Mysteries
Have you ever wanted to try climbing your family tree and finding out where the branches lead? Come learn with Jennifer Dunn, certified genealogist and owner of Copper Mine Genealogy. We will learn about how knowing your past helps create your future. Campers will be asked to bring photos of their family to cut up and make into a family tree. The campers will also participate in an History's Mysteries activity of creative problem solving and getting to the bottom of the mystery.

Thursday - Toys with Kady Yeomans
Learn all about the wonderful world of toys and their history with Kady Yeomans! Campers will then make a variety of toys on their own using items found in most homes - from cars to lava lamps to bubbles!

Friday - The Science of Colors with Mary Beth Powell
Mary Beth Powell will be leading campers in a talk about all the different colors in our lives! From how we dye clothes to how colors mix, it will be a day of COLORful activities! Campers need to wear clothes that can get stained and messy.
